EDWIN P. MORROW

Ed Morrow began his business career as a financial analyst for Dun & Bradstreet. Thereafter, he was the manager for a major life insurance company, supervising marketing activities and training in the estate planning and employee benefits areas.  In 1969 he founded Financial Planning Consultants, of Middletown, ohio , specializing in planning for corporate executives and business owners.  The firm is now engaged in software development, advisor training and consulting for the financial services profession.

Professional designations: Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Financial Planner, Certified Estate Planner and Registered Financial Consultant. In 1997 he received the Certified Trainer CT  designation from the International Board of Certified Trainers.  He has served as an adjunct instructor in financial planning at Purdue University , Miami University of Ohio and Wright State University .  He appears regularly on the programs of Estate Planning Councils and national business seminars, including the Financial Planning Association, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, CLU Institutes and seven times for the Million Dollar Round Table.

Twenty-two training manuals for financial planning, practice management and marketing have been authored by Mr. Morrow.  For eight years he hosted a weekly radio show “Money Talks” on WPFB and prepared weekly columns for local newspapers. 

A prolific author of over 500 articles on practice management and financial planning in professional journals, he has also published three books on practice management and designed eight software programs that are used by over 4,000 financial planners, accountants and educators.  The ProPlan comprehensive financial planning software was released in 1980.  The Practice Builder Financial, which includes a Master Implementation Checklist of 750 planning techniques and over 5,000 pages of financial information is a CRM program now used by over 5,000 financial advisors. 

Mr. Morrow has headed the Continuing Education Committee for the Society of Financial Service Professionals (CLU & ChFC) and was the founding President of the Miami Valley Society of the ICFP.  He is a past President of the 5,000 member Ohio Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  He served as a national director of the Academy of Financial Services , the Institute of CFP , as Mentor  at the first ICFP Residency and for three years Chair of the Financial Advisors Section of the 70,000 member National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors.  He currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants.

He has been selected by Money Magazine as one of “the 200 leading financial planners in the U.S.”  In 1992 he was appointed “Practitioner in Residence” at Wright State University, where he assisted for three years in the enhancement of its Financial Services curriculum.  In 1994 he authored Computerizing Your Financial Planning Practice that was offered by the College for Financial Planning. In 1998 he co-authored with Jeffrey B. Kelvin The Complete Millennium Preparation Guide for Financial Advisors.  In late 1999 he produced the Personal Coaching for Financial Advisors, a reference guide for those interested in enhancing their most valuable asset - themselves. 

 

Ed is a frequent presenter at national conferences of professional associations, insurance companies and broker/dealers - on topics such as: “Practice Management” "Strategic Marketing Solutions," “Adding Fee-Based Income”, "Personal Coaching”," “Technology Applications”, “Trust Financial Advisors and Trust Protectors”, "Web-Based Marketing", “Client Relationship Marketing” and “Fast-Start Workshop.”

Currently Ed is practice management contributor for Financial Services Advisor and Financial Services Journal Online, the Digital Advisor for Advisor Today, publisher of the IARFC Register magazine and a contributor to Probe magazine, Internet Producer’s Web, InsuranceIQ, and Annutiy Advisor.  His articles, books and presentations have made him internationally regarded as "an advisor to financial advisors" for which he received the Cato Award for excellence in financial journalism and the Loren Dunton Award for his significant contributions to the financial services profession.

Due to his involvement in financial planning inAustralia, Malasia, Chine, Taiwan, Canada  and Bermuda , Ed was recognized by Who’s Who in Business Worldwide.  A resident of Middletown  since 1967, Ed and Charlene have three adult children.  He is the founder and past president of the Sorg Opera Company.
